Directions from Logan to Alan and Rachel's Place
This whole thing, by the way, should take a little under an hour.
Why do we not recommend taking a taxi? Because the taxis at Logan aren't familiar with the Somerville area, and even if they miraculously take you straight to our place it will cost $30 or $35.
Get from your plane to the subway
- Follow the signs to Ground Transportation. Go outside.
- Find the courtesy shuttles run by the airport. Usually these are a lane or two away from the airport itself. Make sure you see busses stopping that have double numbers... #88, #22, #33 and so forth. Those are the right ones.
- Take the #22 or #33 bus to the subway stop (it's free).
- Buy a $1 token and go through the turnstiles, then down the stairs to the right--you'll be going inbound on the blue line. Wait for the train.
Take the subway to Davis Square
- Go four stops inbound on the blue line. Get off at Government Center.
- Go up one flight of steps and find the westbound green line. The signs on the proper track should say Westbound and "... via Park." Take the green line westbound one stop to Park Street.
- Follow the signs to "Track 6 to Alewife". The signs will be red. Take the red line six stops to Davis Square. (Don't get on Track 5 by mistake! If you hit Downtown Crossing, you did that. Turn around. The first stop after Park Street should be Charles/MGH.)
- Go up some stairs and out of the turnstiles. After the turnstiles, turn left. Go up more stairs to street level.
Walk from there to our house
- Okay, you have two sets of doors. Go out the left-hand set of doors.
- Turn left. Now, walk that way along the short road where the busses go, through the parking lot behind Osco Drug, and along the bike path.
- When you hit a street (Willow), cross it and turn right. Walk about 50 feet to Lexington Avenue, then turn left.
- Walk two short blocks to 76 Lexington Ave, the ugly peeling white house on the corner of Lexington and Lesley. We're in apartment #2.
- If you see a playground (on your right if on the bike path, on your left if on Lexington Ave) you went too far.
